Part-Time Warehouse & Delivery Staff Job Description

15-20 hrs/ week @ $15/hr July through September

 

OVERVIEW: Fireweed Food Co-op is a non-profit community service co-operative organization whose mission is to build a more resilient, sustainable and socially just food system in Manitoba. Our Food Hub project (in its pilot year) is attempting to build a channel for local grocery stores, restaurants and institutions to access sustainably grown local food, to provide more steady wholesale market demand for small farmers, and increase equitable food access in Winnipeg. We are seeking creative candidates who are passionate about food systems, food justice, and are interested in advancement opportunities in our organization. 

 

DUTIES: Reporting to the Food Hub Coordinator, the Warehouse/ Delivery Staff Person’s responsibility is to make sure fresh food deliveries are received, accurately packed into customer orders following food safety standards and internal COVID-19 policy standards, and then delivered to customers in a timely manner that ensures product freshness and quality. 

 

Order receiving and packaging: 

• Work at our warehouse location on Tuesday to receive deliveries from farmers.

• Using our food hub software (laptop provided), check deliveries for accuracy and as necessary update order prices within the system and print customer labels.

• Package individual customer orders clearly and accurately using software labelling system. 

 

Delivery: 

• Work at our warehouse on Wednesday to pack orders into the delivery van, and then make city-wide deliveries to our customers. 

• Deliver orders accurately, maintaining proper temperature, and within the customer’s allotted time window. 

• Make sure food is handled safely and wear a face-mask/ use hand sanitizer for customer deliveries (provided). 

 

Required Assets/ Skills: 

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Class 5F Driver’s License with no criminal driving charges and no more than 1 at-fault accident and no speeding convictions 30km above speed limit in the previous 3 years.

• Must be comfortable driving and parking a large panel van in the city. 

• Skills: basic computer skills, creating and maintaining an organizational system, creative problem solving, communication.
